New Releases

"It was a freezing cold day when I went to my friend's house to shoot my folio in her backyard. Her dog kept running into the shot which was pretty funny - he's a total scene hog and just wanted to be part of the fun! Being in the garden naked was pretty refreshing. I thought I would need breaks to run inside to the heater, but I actually wanted to stay out there all day. The garden was really overgrown and had this cool 60's vibe that I was really into. I just wanted to play Fleetwood Mac, Carol King and Francoise Hardy and hang out with some sunflowers and feel like a babe in the cold air. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it."
I did not chose a specific theme for my shoot, but I did have the goal to keep it as natural as possible. I wore no makeup, did nothing with my hair, and incorporated as many natural things into my outdoor shots as I could find. There is something about being naked that entices an indescribable feeling of freedom, a connection to nature, and that was what I was hoping to portray.
"I love being naked", says Rose - and we love her being naked, too. "The more skin contact I have with the instrument, the more my body vibrates, and the more sensual the experience is", she explains. The fluidity of her body, flattered by the soft light, is beautiful from every angle.
"I experimented with wearing different costumes in my shoot. The first time I shot I was wearing nothing but gloves. The second time I wore lace and used black and white underwear. I went with using my black and white patterned rug through the shoot and moved throughout the rooms of the house."
"I thoroughly enjoyed shooting myself in 80's workout attire; I think it suits my mood most days which is happy, energetic and a little bit cheeky. I loved playing around with my expandable hoop and trying different angles. Self portrait photography is a very new concept for me, as I usually life model for art classes, but I intend to start doing this more often as it's good for the creative juices to try out different avenues."
On the last day of my holiday I spent all day looking for a private outdoor spot to shoot. I finally found a quiet place close to the water, but as the afternoon sun started to set, I had to push my self out of confort zone, and out of the cover of the trees, to chase the beautiful light. Playing with shadows and the golden light of the sun gave my shoot a feeling of mystery as I ducked in and out of the bushes, trying not to be caught by someone. I really challenged myself taking these shots and it made me feel more confident."
"The shoot was definitely more simple and fun than I expected. I really enjoyed playing around with the different angles and lighting. I used a few little props to add some colour and dimension to my images. I shot outside for many of them, and my housemate's cat and rabbit quickly became curious so they popped their heads into a few shots, which I loved! At first, when shooting in the garden, I was worried that my neighbours might be able to see what I was up to, but that subsided quickly as I became immersed in what I was doing. Doing the shoot has actually made me more comfortable with my body, and it has helped me to get to know it on a new level. My folio is a blend of both subtle and more revealing images; I wanted to show myself in a variety of ways to provoke interest."
"As I ran through the cold fresh air between the little lanes that run through my block, I was wearing nothing but two odd socks, one black one white. I flicked my head side to side in hope that no one would see me. After several minutes I stopped. I focused. I touched. I felt. I imagined. It was just myself, the birds and the trees and the little lovely bees. At one. With myself. And you."

"Well I love Red Velvet!!!! So I figured that was a sexy and relative backdrop for the photo shoot. I started out feeling a little shy, but as the shoot progressed I got pretty darn excited. Especially with the mirror!! It is really difficult to shoot your own pics with one hand or using your toe :)But I think I pulled it off okay. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I have."

"I think doing chores can be so boring sometimes, especially with rays of sunshine warmly inviting me to play outside. Although I had to clean the kitchen, this time I wanted to make it fun... by cleaning in the nude! I must admit, I did get quite distracted by the mountain of bubbles and warm water dripping over my skin. I definitely had a great time!"
I was just not sure if I want to join the project. Then I thought "Why not, at least try it". And I knew not at all what to expect. I ended up being pretty quickly convinced. I had a few ideas and I realized that it's pretty fun! So I have tried more and more things and seen more and more things that I could use, it was just creative. I almost could not stop already, because I came more and more ideas."
"I love autumn and all the colours it brings, so I decided to go with it. This folio is all about chilly days, reading books, drinking tea, rolling around in thick blankets with woolen socks and the warmth of your lover. I wanted to capture the feeling of sleeping in late on one of those cold windy days. Being that it was actually one of those cold days, made the shoot a bit of a cold challenge. But it definitely made for lots of squeals and giggles with the wet leaves in my bed."
Rose told us that playing the Cello has a distinctly sexual resonance for her and when you watch the way she communicates with her instrument, and you feel the vibrations from your speakers, you'll get the connection. It's almost like she's playing a lover.
"It took me almost a week to do the shoot because it's winter and it has been raining. Plus, I live with other people. Oh well, some commando shooting had to happen at some point, right? I thought it would be too cold for outdoor shooting, but mother nature proved me wrong. I enjoyed the sunshine in the garden on a warm winter's day."
"I knew this really good location for a shoot but on the day I went to do it the weather sucked so I abondoned it. The second time there were heaps of people there, so I couldn't shoot then either. I tried but there wer way too many people, although I did have my dressing gown so I could cover up quickly. I decided to give up. The third time the weather was perfect so I took a friend with me as a look out. There were heaps of people riding their horses and I nearly got busted about six times. But I got it done in the end, third time lucky"
