"In this shoot I try to create a post-apocalyptic, eerie vibe. The weather has been very harsh recently and it makes me sick and creates a sombre mood. I channelled my inner cyborg freak to create creepy and slightly alien-inspired images. They're inspired by winter blues, and aesthetically pleasing 90s sci-fi movies. The contrast of the female body against industrial backgrounds and grey skies is very inspiring for me as a woman and artist. The vulnerability of humans to nature, and our subjugation of the environment is a major influence of this shoot. I decided to photograph my body as a living organ, immersed in artificial and natural, decaying elements."

"Walking through a park in nothing but a trench coat was definitely a first for me! At first I felt vulnerable, then I took off the coat and I realized how much fun it was to be naked in public, in daylight! Hanging from the trees naked allowed me laugh at myself in a completely different way. The whole experience was awesome and I'd love to do it again!"

"To me, the female body is one of the most beautiful and powerful things in existence. Too often it's regarded as a source of embarrassment or shame for women, and that's not the way it should be. Our bodies are incredible things and we need to celebrate this! Maybe if everyone walked around nude taking photos of themselves our world would be a much more open and positive place body-wise. Nothing to wear? No worries - being naked is way more beautiful than any new dress or expensive top. In my opinion anyway :P I hope that one day every single woman feels at home in her body and is confident enough to flaunt it in all its glory."

"I was a bit limited for locations to shoot in because I have a housemate who is far more conservative then me! So a lot was in my room and bathroom. I mostly shot with items that I like. My teddies, they are 10 years old. The collar I am wearing I found at a garage sale for $3, I've had a lot of good times wearing that collar! The shoot definitely made me feel more "normal" knowing that so many other people are looking for that sexual creativity outlet and I Shot Myself gives you that opportunity. We are all sexual beings, why do we have to hide it?"

"That was such a spectacular hour and it went so much quicker than I thought it would. We somehow managed to avoid being seen by about 10 people walking past. This has been so wonderful, I honestly can't recommend doing this enough, it's been the most beautiful experience for me. I've had a lot of issues with my body in the past and I'm really trying to get beyond that, and things like this make it all feel worth it. Getting to a point where I feel comfortable doing this is so special."

"The creativity allowed for our folios is pretty exciting! I would love to do another shoot at some point as I unfortunately ran out of time for the project and had to rush the shoot, much more than I would have liked to. I decided to base I Shot Myself around my daily routine of getting up and getting ready. I'd like to thank my house mate for his assistance (We'll call him "Chuck") for letting me use his bathroom for the shoot."

"I'd picked up a mirror with Jesus in the middle of it from an Opshop the day before - I had no clue that I would later be using it to shoot myself in! Taking the photos in that mirror definitely made me laugh and loosened me up to take some other different photos."

"This project was beyond my comfort zone. But I had fun doing it. I went a little crazy by painting my whole face, trying to mimic a galaxy pattern but turned out like an alien instead. Honestly, I love being photographed, in general. But this time was different. I had to be fully naked ! At first I was unsure and I wish I could be a supermodel where stretch marks don't exist on my butt. But hey, seeing myself naked in the mirror and in the camera made me realise that imperfections make you perfect!"

"I have never taken nude photos of myself before. When I got the opportunity with ishotmyself I decided it was time to explore the taboo of nude photography. It was shocking how comfortable I was doing it and I found the experience overall a truly liberating one. It gave me a better understanding of my own body and allowed me to be less critical of it."

"I went to this burned patch of forest that just started coming to life again. I love the contrast of blackened trees, young green fern shoots and my naked body between all of that. I feel like one of the ferns, I'm just starting to uncurl...."

Some people have a wonderful knack for making everyday objects suddenly look incredibly sexy and Dakota is one of those gifted few that have this talent. For her return to our fair site she has taken it upon herself to educate us all on how to look amazing whilst relaxing near some incredibly un-special office supplies. Having said that though, I must admit that when Dakota is present, everything else just becomes something of a blur...

"This was one of the most fun things I have done. I had so many creative ideas, but unfortunately limited time to do it in. When I started I looked at it as taking a nude pic, but once I took a few and moved around it was all about the fun crazy ideas I could come up with, trying something out just to see how it would look. I ran around my house, backyard and even the front yard naked for a couple of hours giving everything a go. I will never look at my body as perfect, but I don't need to and the enjoyment I got out of taking part in this was worth more than a better body part could ever give. No matter what, express yourself."

"I shot myself because I thought that seeing myself through the lens of a camera and seeing photographs of my body would allow me to recognise it for what it is. When I see my body in a mirror or in a reflection, I feel self-conscious and can't separate it from my own ingrained perceptions of it. But when I faced the camera towards myself and later viewed the images, even though I knew I took them, it was still as if I was seeing what my body looked like from someone else's gaze. It was like I was seeing it from a different perspective to my own, from the outside. I wanted to know what that would feel like. I thought that it would be humbling and it was :)"

Monica G makes her ISM debut with a collection of images that are as delicate and pretty as the flower that inspired her folio's name (Dianthus-plumarius for the uninitiated). Making excellent use of a couple of mirrors whilst wearing some of the prettiest pink underwear you could imagine, Monica G's folio is a simple but effective introduction.

"Hello my name's Catherine. I'm filming my second I Shot Myself video today. I did my first project a few months ago. I live at college and it was really hard to find a location so I did it in our music rooms. This time I ventured out and we are in a secluded beach. Hopefully no one walks up here and sees me taking my clothes off... It's winter but it's not too cold today so it's definitely manageable to be removing clothes. It's the first time I've been properly naked in public so it's an interesting experience, but it's about feeling good so that's what I'm going to do."
