ARTISTS STATEMENT

The naked body can be viewed in so many different ways. Whilst taking this shoot, the area where I was sat very quickly became filled with men trying to see what I was doing. Trying to photograph myself for a project which I believed would feel liberating was challenged by the men that began to surround me. I think it's important that a project like this exists because the way women & their bodies are exhibited is too often done through a male's perspective and how they want and think a woman and her body should be seen. Sexuality should be liberating and exciting, not something seedy for men who just want to get themselves off.
