ARTISTS STATEMENT

I have a tendency to be a bit of an exhibitionist, and this was the main draw for me to do this project. I chose to do my shoot on my boyfriend's 1976 Toyota Corona, as I enjoyed the outdoor, public location and the idea I might get caught (which did happen!). I was also interested in contrasting the soft, naked form of a woman against the dirty , manufactured form of an old car. It represents my ideal fantasy; dirty and rough but irreproachable because of its intrinsic beauty. The unique experience of being in control of both the camera and the 'model' simultaneously allowed for a more personal type of creativity. In every shot I see myself as both the creator and the observer of the situation, forming a combination that reflects both my confidence and vulnerability as an artist.
