ARTISTS STATEMENT

Being a dancer and gymnast, my body is under constant scrutiny. This project was a massive hurdle for me because there are parts of me that are less than perfect, especially to industry standards, but I believe that skinny doesn't equal fit and fit doesn't equal skinny. I have learnt to shine a light of compassion on the parts of me I don't like and something that has helped with this has been hanging out naked. Living and training in Europe, communal showers went from being embarassing to being as fun as going for coffee. Although it would take a lot for me to get my kit off in public, I have changed my top on the train more than once. My body is my tool, I use it to create my craft.
