ARTISTS STATEMENT

If someone had asked me to do this project three years ago, I would have told them to fuck off. Really. If I could have slipped out of my skin and thrown away my body back then and chosen another one, I would have done so gladly. In three years, I have travelled, seen things that I will never un-see, and I guess grown to love myself and my body a lot more. I've also grown older and realised that beauty is not just what society tells us it is, it is within. Any hangups about being naked are slowly being left behind, day by day, week by week, month by month. I think turning 30 last year helped me re-evaluate how I saw myself, I said no more to such hectic self destruction and decided to do things that my future self will be thankful for instead. Contributing to this project was a massive step to letting go of so much body image bullshit, and an important part of the healing process for me. I really like the concept of I shot Myself, the female body is so beautiful and for it to be appreciated in such a unique way is worth celebrating and being a part of.

biggest passion in my life: Right now it is re-inventing myself from the person I used to be, so fitness and clean eating have replaced drugs and partying.
I like to listen to: anything electronic; drum and bass, gabber, deep house, techno, minimal tech...
I like to watch: television series', I'm hanging out for the new series of Orphan Black, and I love Archer.
I like to smell: freshly ground coffee in the morning, lilies, and visiting new cities when travelling.
I like to taste: fruit. I am obsessed with mangoes and grapes and bananas, but also tasting new lovers is fun.
I like to feel: safe, and also plunging my hands into a bag or uncooked rice, Amelie style. It feels so good.
favourite part of my body: My eyes, they get me into so much trouble.
favourite part of someone else's body: On a girl, legs, and on a guy, arms and back, but eyes are the one thing that gets me.
Why i shot myself: I am much more comfortable inside my skin now than what I used to be. I've worked hard to look after myself and can now stand shamelessly naked.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: My mother? Ha. No. Everyone should do this.
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: My brother's wife, I think it would really liberate her and open her mind.
my website/fav website: None really, but I am obsessed with Instagram at the moment.
Most outrageous thing I have done: Worked in the cloak room of a swingers sex club in Berlin every weekend for eight months.
Bands I like: No one in particular, but I appreciate anyone young and local, there are so many talented musicians out there, it blows me away.
Books I like: Anything written by Tim Winton, or poetry by EE Cummings, words that keeps me in bed all day turning pages.
Films I like: Anything art-house and different, or comedy because I love laughing.
