ARTISTS STATEMENT
When I decided to do ISM I felt like it wouldn't phase me much. I would snap my shots and be done, simple. I have also done a little modelling work for small life drawing groups and at rope workshops and BDSM events and I've participated in a little bit of sex work. But it was a very different feeling to be so in control and so engaged with my body. Particularly with my appearance, as opposed to the immersive sensory experience that comes with being tied in front of a crowd. I wanted to bring some of my own sensuality to the shoot and I think that is why it felt so different from previous experiences. Though I love rope work in all its forms I rarely self tie, even though I own great lengths of rope. I also frequently have flowers in my life. It's beautiful to capture the environmental diversity within these images. We are all a product of our environment and living in the city means that most of the time I take those little patches of nature for granted rather than celebrating them. That's what this shoot was about for me. Celebrating the smaller nuances of my existence. Of the fauna around me. As well as the beauty and calm of rope work. The gentle skill it takes to tie and the intimacy you develop with yourself as you wind the knots around your skin is almost trance like. The details of my body really spoke to me. The things I don't look at every day as I walk by the mirror. I loved exploring how I looked leaning over or stretching out. It's a similar feeling to swimming naked beneath a waterfall. You are so connected to yourself, and to the natural environment. Each movement is a dance between your body and the water. Or, in this case, the camera.

ARTIST PROFILE
birthplace: NSW - just outside Byron Bay
age: 24
height: About 175cm
relationship status: Polyamorous
biggest passion in my life: My greatest passion, hands down is baking. I love to cook for other people, making that special something that they have fond memories of from their childhood
I like to listen to: People speaking with emphasis on anything they are passionate about will always be the most engaging form of conversation to me
I like to watch: Clouds move in the sky. Any chance I get. I'm an early riser so I usually enjoy watching the sunrise and sunset each day
I like to smell: I love the wave of warm air that hits you as you walk into a bakery as the first customer in the morning. Nothing beats the smell of fresh bread and hot pastries straight out of the oven
I like to taste: Exploring new tastes is the most fun. Each time I go to the farmers market or find myself in a boutique food store I try to pick up something I don't recognise and figure out how to cook with it
I like to feel: One of my ultimate luxuries is having freshly washed hair and freshly washed sheets on the same day. Falling asleep in a soft cocoon of my bamboo sheets, silk pillowcases and downy blanket
favourite part of my body: My decolletage is in my opinion the most feminine and sexy part of my body. I like emphasising my collarbone region, shoulders and neck whenever possible
favourite part of someone else's body: I don't typically focus on the visual aspects of other people. However lately I've found myself quite fascinated by the calves. Strong muscular male calves, or taught prim female calves elegantly balancing above a heeled shoe
Why i shot myself: ISM as a project really spoke to my creative side. I never thought I would do something like this, as I've always preferred in person interaction. I was drawn to this project in particular because it gave me a chance to be the director, photographer and model.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: Anyone in Parliament. Put that pant suit back on Carol and go decriminalise sex work or something
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Any of my female friends. Everyone needs more liberating self love and physical acceptance in their lives
Most outrageous thing I have done: Fulfilling sexual fantasies is always WILD. The elaborate and taboo ones are the most fun. Once I was Batgirl, kitted out in the full costume
Bands I like: Jazz, old school artists that just got it so right. Charles Mingus. Just about anything from Miles Davis. And of course Charles Bradley. I am a die hard Nipsey Hussle fan and early albums from Hilltop Hoods are my jam. I've been getting into Soul Chef lately too, it's a great combo of the two, adding blues rhythms to some hip hop style vocals
Books I like: I loved What Einstein Told His Cook because it's all everyday food science and that is fascinating. I am quite obsessed with Norman Doidge. He writes on the frontier of neuroscience and neuroplasticity. The last thing I read and loved was She I Dare Not Name. Which was very special
Films I like: The Lighthouse came out recently and I loved that. It was a very full on film, but I was very taken by it. Good Will Hunting is probably my favourite classic. I'm always in it for the underdog, especially the nerds. One I've been recommending to all my friends lately has been I Am Not an Easy Man
