It might be you in NSW, but it could also be Georgia O'Keeffe in New Mexico, playing with the desert light and colours, a soft, alluring flower in the arid wilderness. 045 is incredible for many reasons, but for me it sums up an incredible stillness, a pause to breathe, a moment when you ground yourself in the here and now. You photograph your body in states of wild abandon, and sometimes show it off as a texture or a colour, but it's so much more. What I'm sort of trying to say is, the harshness of the desert makes you a lovely lush oasis. Keep on pushing those boundaries! 4:18PM Jun 26th 2006

kyla says... oh, wow, thanks for all the lovely comments - it was definitely my most fun shoot yet (and the coldest - it was about 8 deg C even before the sun set, which isn't much when you're naked!). it was such a crazy afternoon - i had this fantastic place all picked out to do a shoot, a disused quarry, but i got there and it was full of workmen - not so disused after all, apparently. i was with a friend of mine, so we just kept driving, looking for another place. Eventually, we just stopped beside the highway and he kept a lookout for me while i took my clothes off and hoped for the best! oh, and external, it's not a hood piercing, but you may well see more of it in my next shoot ... xxoo Kyla 10:44AM Jun 17th 2006
