Send me your inspiration lovely people.

Well it appears the ISM forum is suffering a similar dry spell to the one my creative brain is experiencing.  So in the interest of sharing and because I am always told that if you give you shall receive I thought I'd post a little creative inspiration.  (Its really just a list of random stuff that I love but shhhh don't tell anyone)

Re: Send me your inspiration lovely people.

Oh oh I have a tshirt printed by mike kelley at home somewhere.  I went to this amazing exhibition of his and the curator was telling me how he had been given USD$2million to build it.  The gallery space was about the size of an aeroplane hanger and had 32 different installations in the space.  Each one was based off a found yearbook image (usually rather strange ones from extracurricular clubs) which he developed a story for.  He'd then hire models to repose each image and to act out a short skit which he had written on a set which he had constructed.  Each installation included the set the video and an edition of the photo and were selling for around $50000 USD each.  Then there were another 3 editions of each of the images  for sale as well as tshirts and catalogues.  By the time I had gotten there which was only the 2nd or 3rd day he had sold 28 out of the 32 installations to galleries around the world.  God I'd love to have that sort of support for an exhibition.  Imagine the stuff you could do.

Zygotic acceleration always freaked me out - it is one of the scariest things I have ever seen!

The Olaf Breuning pic is great fun - might have to do a homage in a folio for that smile

I get so jealous of those artists who get a whole crap load of money to make these amazing things a reality... I want to know how to get a rich sponsor and make giant, crazy, multimedia installations!

Oh and Alisha, that's a great idea you totally should do a homage to Olaf Breuning! I would love you forever for that!

Re: Send me your inspiration lovely people.

Thanks heaps ngaio and veronicaf, all new images to me!  I like the impossible optical illusion stuff in your first post veronica, and Zygotic acceleration is super freaky, but very cool. ngaio - love the texture in those Marylin Minter pics - and can see how that may have been inspiration for slutmonster!  Also I really love the upper lip sweat - perhaps I'll stop constantly wiping mine away.  And the Olaf Breuning coloured smoke - great visual effect plus probably pretty fun to do!  Hey you can get that magic smoke stuff somewhere can't you? Imagine that ina  folio!

Re: Send me your inspiration lovely people.

You know, I think I was only somewhat aware of Marilyn Minter's work until someone reminded me of her with a comment made in my Slutmonster folio... been thinking about her work a lot lately though.

Good call on the coloured smoke thing, I used to be able to find those easily in New Zealand but I don't know about here. Has a smoke machine ever been used in a folio, that anyone can think of? A friend of mine has one and I totally have to borrow it from him for my next folio.

Found an image that might inspire someone mirror-use-wise for a folio?

Ooh  there's something about Junko Mizuno's stuff I like, here's a video of one of her toys, I like the "alternative bunny head" on the back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrMqes7aC30

Here's her book Flare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kiUZjGAl1Q I turned the music down.

And the comic pure trance is my favourite even though it's not in colour it has loads iof wonderful images and is really sexy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cx0eQmmbJtk

Thanks ngaio

Pure Trance is pretty awesome... In my opinion, the story is badly written (possibly badly translated) and sort of disjointed but I just love the illustrations so very, very much!

Re: Send me your inspiration lovely people.

Hope you guys don't mind me sharing, I just love looking at pictures! This one is amazing but I have to link to it as it won't display on here for some reason.

Images like that really make me feel I need to invest in an underwater cover for my camera. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they trusty? I'm ever so protective of my precious SLR camera!

Edited with link fixed, thanks Blissed!

Re: Send me your inspiration lovely people.

Ha ha I can't see it, the link is bad so I went to the site here http://www.photo.mondo.pl/ and liked the pics  but I thought the one with the bread underwater was best so dragged and dropped that one and bingo, it has the same address. I changed the file name and hosted it on photobucket, it is a good pic isn't it tho I'm not entirely sure if this is the one you were trying to post, there's quite a few good pics on Tomeks site. This is the one that immediately stood out for me.
If this is the one you wanted to post I'm a little too pleased and excited that I got it right :) I'm a sad man :)
